Performance & Precision
In racing, a boat’s performance directly depends on the quality and precision of its sail wardrobe. With Quantum Sails, Axe Sail offers sails developed for competition, designed using advanced modeling tools and adapted to each racing program: inshore racing, offshore regattas, or one-design circuits.
Precise and Controlled Design
Each sail is designed according to the boat’s characteristics, rigging, and racing program. Quantum design technologies optimize the sail’s structure and shape to achieve the best compromise between power, control, and long-term stability.
Sailors also benefit from the strength of the Quantum global network, which brings together more than 70 lofts and service centers. This network ensures technical support and rapid interventions throughout Europe and worldwide, a major asset for crews engaged in regatta circuits or offshore races.
Depending on the desired performance level and the type of program (offshore/inshore), several sail technologies are available.
Fusion M Membranes
Fusion M sails represent the core of Quantum’s technology for racing. These membranes are constructed by orienting fibers along the sail’s load paths to optimize load distribution.
Several membrane levels exist:
M5: high-performance membrane for intensive racing
M6: lighter and more stable structure for demanding programs
M7: high-performance membrane used on very competitive racing projects
This technology allows for:
excellent shape control
significant weight savings
maximum aerodynamic stability
These sails are particularly suited for boats engaged in IRC, ORC circuits, or offshore programs.
Tri-Radial
Tri-Radial sails use panel orientation along the main load paths. This construction improves shape retention and limits deformation over time.
Traditionally made from high-quality Dacron, these sails offer:
great durability
good stability
a more accessible cost than membranes
Quantum recently introduced an evolution of this technology with Electra, a new material developed to improve the performance of tri-radial sails.
The new Electra range notably allows for:
improved profile stability
reduced fabric elasticity
extended lifespan while maintaining excellent performance
This solution offers an excellent compromise between performance, durability, and budget.
Cross-cut
Cross-Cut sails use horizontal panels made from woven polyester fabrics. This construction remains a reliable and accessible solution for certain racing programs.
It offers several advantages:
simple and robust structure
good performance for club programs or local regattas
controlled cost
This solution can be interesting for boats wishing to participate in regattas while maintaining a reasonable budget.
End-to-End
Local Support with Axe Sail
Our teams in Cherbourg, Granville, and Saint-Malo will assist you in choosing your sail based on:
the type of boat
