With the aim of promoting and sharing sailing values through various nautical events, the two Axe Sail racing teams (J/88 and Sigma 33) have won, in their respective categories, the 34th edition of the Tour des Ports de la Manche which took place from July 8 to 13, 2018.
A formidable nautical and human challenge!
The unique sailing area and the fantastic event where 85 crews meet, make The Tour des Ports de la Manche one of the biggest sailing races in France and the largest one in Normandy. The crews left on Sunday, July 8 from Saint-Vaast-la-Hougue and traveled Cherbourg, Dielette, Guernsey, Barneville-Carteret and Jersey before crossing the finish line in Granville on Friday. Axe Sail racing team has been sailing for months in pursuit of a new sports project with the support of its two main partners Sarbacane (e-mailing solution) and Issartel Minerva Group: Highlighted sailing values on Normand sailing area.
Crews of enthusiasts with complementary members
The two crews, passionate about sailing and the ocean, have been training for months for this event. "Participating in the dynamism of our sailing area was our main objective. We trained hoping to be in the top 5. We were first in the provisional ranking throughout the event! Each stage gave us even more motivation to start the next one", said Axel Gadbin, Skipper of Axe Sail - J/88. The complementarity and skills of each allow a perfect synergy, in competition. "Within the crew, we have various skills and we know each other perfectly. We have been sailing together for years. We have therefore perfectly completed" says Marc Gadbin, skipper of Axe Sail 2, on a Sigma 33.
Axel Gadbin's crew is sailing on a J/88 which is a performance unit of J/Boats Shipyard. "The J/88 is a boat designed for two uses: the family sports ride and the race. It's a boat that allows everyone to sail with comfort while offering incomparable sensations. We have also used all the know-how of our company on both boats, from rigging to electronics and saddlery, not forgetting our main business, the design of tailor-made sails, adapted to the profile and the sailing program of each sailboat. It provides an exposure for the company. This brings to light our know-how and our values" adds Axel Gadbin, skipper of J/88 - Axe Sail and manager of Axe Sail's Sail loft, located in Cherbourg, in Normandy.
Congratulations to all crews! See you in 2019 for the 35th edition of the Tour des Ports de la Manche!
